abbr. PDF (an abbreviation with multiple meanings). The PDF protein is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily (bone morphogenetic proteins) but contains two additional cysteine residues (Paralkar et al, 1998). The protein is identical with PLAB (Placental bone morphogenetic protein), MIC1 (macrophage inhibitory cytokine-1), GDF15 (growth/differentiation factor-15), and PTGF-beta.
