These cells, called also progranulocytes, constitute one of the intermediate stages in the development of all three types of granulocytes. The cells are still capable of cell division and are characterized by the presence of azurophilic granules. The name eomyelocytes has been proposed for early forms of these cells (Brederoo et al, 1983). For a description see also: Brederoo et al, 1983).
