this term has been used widely to refer to self-organizing three-dimensional spheroids derived either from neural stem cells or from such cells with stem cell character obtained from tumors or differentiated under various culture conditions from embryonic stem cells or undifferentiated human pluripotent stem cells (for overview see: da Silva Siqueira L et al, 2021; for an example of a cell culture system see: SFEBq culture and the more general entry sphere forming assay).
