abbr. L&H cells, L&H lymphoma cells. This term pertains to the atypical cells of nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin's lymphoma (NLPHL), one of the entities of Hodgkin lymphoma. Lymphocytic and histiocytic cells have a B-cell phenotype and represent a monoclonal expansion of B-cell. The high load of V(H) gene mutations and signs of intraclonal diversity suggest a relation between lymphocytic and histiocytic cells and germinal center B-cells at the centroblastic stage of differentiation (Marafioti et al (1997).
