[lysocardiolipin acyltransferase] Lycat has been shown to be critical for hemangioblast development into both hematopoietic cell and endothelial cell lineages in zebrafish (Xiong et al, 1008). Reduction of lycat mRNA levels in wild-type zebrafish embryos decreases both endothelial cell and hematopoietic lineages. Lycat mRNA rescues blood lineages in zebrafish cloche mutant embryos. Mutations in the highly conserved catalytic domain in lycat abolish its function in zebrafish hematopoiesis.
