Lipocytes are normal constituents of yellow or fatty bone marrow. They are called also adipocytes or fat cells and are derived from undifferentiated precursors (lipoblasts).
Lipocytes found in the liver and lining the walls of liver sinusoids are referred to as hepatic lipocytes, hepatic stellate cells or Ito cells.
