[homeostatic chemokine]
this term refers to an operational classification of certain chemotactic cytokines (see: chemokines) that are usually constitutively expressed by certain cell types. Expression of these chemokines is often restricted to certain tissues. Homeostatic chemokines are involved in controlling the migration of cells during normal processes of tissue maintenance or development and play important roles in regulating lymphocyte trafficking and functional compartmentalization of lymphoid organs. Examples in this group include CCL14, CCL19, CCL20, CCL21, CCL25, CCL27, CXCL12, CXCL13
