called also: hematocytoblasts. The term hemocytoblast pertains to very primitive cells that are bone marrow stem cells for all cell types found in the blood (Anastassova-Kristeva, 2003; Hartenstein, 2006). Hemocytoblasts are scored frequently as reticulum cells (fixed tissue cells) by clinical hematologists.
Especially in older references the terms hematoblasts, hematohistioblasts, hemoblasts, hemohistioblasts may refer to essentially the same undifferentiated cell type. Rieke et al (1963) have provided a histological description of these cells in the mesenteric lymph node of rats
