this glycoprotein of 40 kDa recognised by monoclonal antibodies on the surface of peripheral blood T-cells and thymocytes (Palker et al, 1985) has been given the designation CD7 in the nomenclature of CD antigens. the corresponding gene has been cloned by Aruffo and Seed (1987).
