[dead ringer] This Drosophila melanogaster gene, which encodes a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein originally termed bk60 (Kalionis and O’Farrell, 1993) and renamed dri (Gregory et al, 1996), is developmentally regulated, being expressed in a restricted set of cells including some neural cells and differentiating cells of the gut and salivary gland ducts.
Shandala et al (2003) have reported that dri is an important regulator of the late development of longitudinal glia and required for positioning of the longitudinal glia in the Drosophila
