This Drosophila melanogaster protein encoded by gene: CG1708 is known also as cos, costa, cos2, or Kinesin-like protein costa. The protein has been shown to regulate phosphorylation of the transcription factor cubitus interruptus and regulates cell fates and patterning during development by interfering with the Hedgehog pathway (Robbins et al, 1997; Sisson et al, 1997; Zhang et al, 2005), including the Hedgehog signalling component smoothened and the kinase fused (Wang G et al, 2000; Lum et al, 2003).
