[C-type-lectin-60] This Caenorhabditis elegans protein, for which orthologs in other species do not seem to exist, is thought to have a function in innate immunity, its expression being very strongly upregulated in response to infection with various pathogens. Gene silencing confirms that clec-60 has a major role in the defense system of Caenorhabditis elegans during Salmonella enterica servorar Typhimurium infection (Sivamaruthi and Balamurugan, 2014).
