casein-beta(197-213)

beta-casein(197-213), called also beta-casein 197, is obtained by hydrolysis of casein-beta and corresponds to amino acids 197-213 of casein-beta (LLNQELLLNPTHQIYPV; Leu-Leu-Asn-Gln-Glu-Leu-Leu-Leu-Asn-Pro-Thr-His-Gln-Ile-Tyr-Pro-Val). The peptide has been identified in preterm human milk as a stable endogenous peptide with a long half-life (Fu et al, 2017). The peptide may act as a defense peptide that shows antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Yersinia enterocolitica. Listeria monocytogenes, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Bacillus subtilis are not sensitive to casein-beta(197-213). The ... ... ... ...
