callisulfakinin I is a nonapeptide (Phe-Asp-Asp-Tyr(SO3)-Gly-His-Met-Arg-Pheamide; FDDYGHMRFamide) isolated from heads of the blowfly Calliphora vomitoria (Duve et al, 1995). The peptide is identical to one of the drosulfakinins of Drosophila melanogaster (drosulfakinin I) and to neosulfakinin I of Neobellieria bullata.
The cDNA also encodes callisulfakinin II (GGEEQFDDYGHMRFamide), but this peptide was not identified in fly head extracts. These peptides belong to a class of neuropeptides structurally and functionally similar to the vertebrate brain-gut
