this term refers to structures formed by membrane fusion of apoptotic bodies generated by cells undergoing the first phase of cell death by apoptosis (Jinesh et al, 2013; Jinesh and Kanat, 2016, 2017). Unlike most cell types, which can still proceed to the secondary necrosis stage, cancer stem cells having produced blebbishields can survive by undergoing a second transformation phase characterized by sphere formation from blebbishields and blockage of secondary necrosis, which involves fusion of blebbishields or fusion of blebbishields and mitotic cells (Jinesh et al, 2013; Jinesh and Kamat, 2016).
