also: lactalbumin-alpha(1-5). This bioactive peptide is a subfragment of alpha-lactalbumin with the sequence EQLTK. It is generated by trypsin digestion (Pellegrini et al, 1999) and has been shown to possess antimicrobial activities, being active mainly against Gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus lentus, Streptococcus zooepidemicus. It is active also against the Gram-negative Bordetella bronchiseptica.
