Achetakinins are invertebrate neuropeptides from the cricket Acheta domesticus. They are related to Leucokinins. These peptides increase the frequency of tubule writhing movements and stimulate fluid secretion in the Malpighian tubules of Acheta domesticus. They also have effects on the concentration of lipid in the hemolymph and levels of protein synthesis in the fat body in vivo (for overview see: Torfs et al, 1999).
Achetakinins include
Achetakinin I [SGADFYPWGamide; Ser-Gly-Ala-Asp-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Glyamide],
Achetakinin II [AYFSPWGamide; Ala-Tyr-Phe-Ser-Pro-Trp-Glyamide],
Achetakinin III
