[ZU5 and death domain-containing protein] The approved gene symbol for human ZUD is UNC5CL [unc-5 homolog C-like, UNC5C-like protein].
The human cDNA encodes a 518 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that shares 83 % sequence identity with its mouse ortholog (Zhang et al, 2004). The protein contains an N-terminal ZU5 domain of unknown function that is found in ZO-1 and UNC5H receptors, a middle leucine zipper motif, and a C-terminal death domain.
