XFGF9

XFGF9 is the frog homolog of mammalian FGF9 and shows 93 % identity at the amino acid level (Song and Slack, 1996). XFGF9 has mesoderm inducing activity in Xenopus laevis with a specific activity similar to other members of the family of fibroblast growth factors. In whole embryos XFGF9 also has a posteriorizing activity.
