[Wnt-1 induced secreted protein-3; Wnt1-inducible signaling pathway protein-3] This gene is related to WISP-1 and WISP-2. WISP-3 is a member of the CCN family of growth factors and has been given the designation CCN6 (see also: CCN family). The gene encodes a secreted protein of 354 amino acids. The WISP-3 gene maps to chromosome 6q22-6q23 and is overexpressed (4- to >40-fold) in 63 % of human colon tumors analyzed (Pennica et al, 1998). A splice variant, termed WISP-3vL, has been described by Cervello et al (2004).
