[Wnt-1 induced secreted protein-1; Wnt1-inducible signaling pathway protein-1] WISP-1 has been identified as a gene the expression of which is upregulated in the mouse mammary epithelial cell line C57MG transformed by Wnt-1, but not by Wnt-4 (Pennica et al, 1998). WISP-1 is a member of the CCN family of growth factors and has been given the designation CCN4 (see also: CCN family).
The WISP-1 gene encodes a secreted protein of 367 amino acids and is localized to human chromosome 8q24.1-8q24.3. Mouse and human WISP-1 proteins are 84 % identical. WISP-1 has been identified independently as
