WGFE
[whey growth factor extract] this extract, marketed as Lactermin, or an acid-activated form (WGFE-a) are a whey fraction of milk obtained as a by-product of cheese making (Francis et al, 1995; Rogers et al, 1995). These extracts contain, among other factors, lactoperoxidase and lactoferrin as major factors, together with a variety of minor proteins and peptides such as the growth factors IGF-1, IGF-2, PDGF, FGF, TGF-beta, and betacellulin.
