These include vammin of Vipera ammodytes ammodytes and HF, derived from the venom Vipera aspis aspis, as well as VEGF homologs of other Viperidae (VR-1) (Tokunaga et al, 2005; Suto et al, 2005). These proteins lack the C-terminal heparin binding domain found in other heparin binding VEGF subtypes (Yamazaki et al, 2005), and differ in the structure of their receptor binding domain from other VEGF subtypes (Suto et al, 2005).
