This peptide (STLHLVLRLRGG; Ser-Thr-Leu-His-Leu-Val-Leu-Arg-Leu-Arg-Gly-Gly) corresponds to a fragment of Ubiquitin (Ub65-76; Ubiquitin(65-76)). Metz-Boutigue et al (2003) have reported that ubifungin is released from secretory granules of chromaffin cells from the adrenal medulla into the circulation and displays antibacterial and antifungal activities.
