[upregulated in Brs3-deficient mice] This gene (gene symbol: CCDC80 [coiled-coil domain containing 80]) has been identified by Aoki et al (2002). Expression is upregulated specifically in knock-out mice lacking expression of the gene encoding bombesin-like receptor-3 (BRS3), a mouse strain that exhibits mild late-onset obesity, hyperphagia, and reduced metabolic rates.
URB (949 amino acids) is a secretory protein but also contains a nuclear localization signal.
