TREML4 has been identified by Hemmi et al (2009) as a gene that is expressed more prominently in CD8-alpha(+) than CD8-alpha(-) dendritic cells. Expression is seen predominantly in the spleen. High levels are seen on splenic macrophages in the spleen, particularly red pulp and marginal metallophilic macrophages.
