[tunica endothelial kinase; tunica interna endothelial cell kinase] This tyrosine kinase has been isolated by Dumont et al (1992). It is expressed during murine cardiogenesis. The kinase is expressed specifically in the endocardium, the leptomeninges, and the endothelial lining of the vasculature from the earliest stages of their development. Expression of this kinase appears to mark the embryonic progenitors of mature endothelial cells. The new name for this kinase is TIE-2.
