[thrombin-derived C-terminal peptides] Papareddy et al (2010) have shown that, by functioning as host defense peptides, C-terminal peptides of thrombin, a key enzyme in the coagulation cascade, link the coagulation system and host-defense peptides, two fundamental biological systems activated in response to injury and microbial invasion.
