Two peptides, termed Scolopin-1 (FLPKMSTKLRVPYRRGTKDYH) and Scolopin-2 (GILKKFMLHRGTKVYKMRTLSKRSH) have been identified in centipede venoms of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans (Peng et al, 2010). Both peptides show strong antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria bacteria and fungi. They also show moderate hemolytic activity against both human and rabbit red cells.
