[STAT induced STAT inhibitor-2] abbr. also: STATI2. This protein is related to SSI1 and is a member of a family of proteins regulating cytokine signaling. The protein has been described independently as CIS2 [Cytokine inducible SH2-containing protein-2]. Sequence analysis shows that the protein is identical with SOCS2 [Suppressor of cytokine signaling-2].
