[secreted and transmembrane 1] The human gene encoding this protein has been cloned by Slentz-Kesler et al (1998) who referred to it as K12 protein. The protein exists as a transmembrane protein (approximately 27 kDa) and as an approximately 20 kDa soluble form derived from the N-terminal domain that is secreted by cells into the culture medium. SECTM1 is found in leukocytes of the myeloid lineage, with the strongest staining observed in granulocytes (neutrophils) and no detectable expression in lymphocytes.
