This cell line has been established from a head-and-neck carcinoma (Urade et al, 1992). The cells form tumors in nude mice and are not resistant to Bleomycin, which induces cell death by apoptosis in these cells (Urade et al, 1992). Apoptosis is inhibited by protein phosphatase inhibitors (Fujita et al, 1999). The cells secrete large amounts of G-CSF into the conditioned medium. In vitro treatment of the cells with recombinant G-CSF significantly augments their invasive potential in dose- and time-dependent manners.
