[S100 calcium binding protein P] A databank synonym for this protein is S100-E (note: S100E is used also as a synonym for S100A3). This is a calcium-binding protein related to the S100 family of proteins. It has been isolated from human placenta (Emoto et al, 1992; Becker et al, 1992). Parkkila et al (2008) have shown that S100P is expressed widely in both normal and malignant tissues. S100P has been shown to be overexpressed in different cancers and frequently correlates with poor prognosis (reviewed by Arumugam T and Logsdon CD, 2011).
Gibadulinova A et al (2005) have shown that S100P can induce anchorage-independence growth of tumor cells
