Rh50a

[Rhesus-associated polypeptide 50 kDa a] This protein is part of a multisubunit complex carrying the Rh blood group antigens and appears to account for most cases of Rhesus blood group deficiency (Cherif-Zahar et al, 1996, 1998). The term Rh50 is a generic term for heterogeneously glycosylated membrane proteins of 50 and 45 kDa, the Rh50 glycoproteins, which are coprecipitated with other polypeptides of approximately 30 kDa on immunoprecipitation with anti-Rh-specific antibodies, but it is used also synonymously with Rh50a.

The cDNA encoding the Rh50a glycoprotein has been cloned by Ridgwell et al (1992). The intron/exon structure of the corresponding gene has been determined by Huang (1998). The protein is involved in ammonium uptake in ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
