(Gln-Ile-Gly-Leu-Phe) This peptide has been isolated from egg white ovalbumin. The peptide acts as an inhibitor of ACE [angiotensin-1 converting enzyme] (Yu et al, 2011). Ding et al (2014) have reported that the peptide is transported via tight junctions in monolayers of intestinal Caco-2 cells and protects these cells against oxidative stress caused by hydrogen peroxide.
