[placenta growth factor, Placental growth factor; abbr. also PGF] This factor was isolated initially as a cDNA from a human placenta cDNA library. PlGF is expressed also in human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The cDNA encodes a protein of 149 amino acids, which displays 51 % sequence identity with a sequence domain of VPF (vascular permeability factor).
