PRG3

[p53-responsive gene 3] The expression of this gene is induced specifically under p53-dependent apoptotic conditions in human colon cancer cells (Horikoshi et al, 1999). The cytoplasmic protein (373 amino acids; 40.5 kDa) has significant homology to bacterial oxidoreductases and the apoptosis inducing factor, AIF (Ohiro et al, 2002). The human gene to chromosome 10q21.3-q22.1. Ectopic expression of PRG3 induces cell death by apoptosis. The gene has been identified independently as AMID.
