Osteolectin

This name has been given to CLEC11A [C-type lectin domain family member 11A] by Yue et al (2017) who identified it as a secreted protein of bone marrow stromal cells that promotes osteogenesis.

Knock-out mice lacking expression of Osteolectin appear developmentally normal and show normal hematopoiesis but reduced limb and vertebral bone. These mice exhibit accelerated bone loss during aging, reduced bone strength, and delayed fracture healing.
