This human endogenous pentapeptide (QRFSR ; Gln-Arg-Phe-Ser-Arg) has been detected in human saliva. It is encoded by the human OPRPN [opiorphin prepropeptide] gene, which is known also PROL1 [proline rich 1; proline rich lacrimal protein 1] (Wisner et al. 2006).
