OKT11 is a monoclonal antibody that binds with greater than 95 % of infant thymocytes, staining both cortical and medullary cells, 65-80 % of blood lymphocytes. It selectively stains the T-cell-dependent paracortical areas of tonsil. A small proportion (9-12 %) of bone marrow lymphocytes that do not express terminal transferase are also stained. The antibody stains the surface membrane Ig-negative lymphocytes in blood and tonsil and blocks rosette formation by sheep erythrocytes to normal or leukemic T-cells). The antibody is thought to react with the E-rosette receptor and thus identifies CD2.
