Nociceptin

abbr. Noc. Nociceptin is a neuropeptide hormone of 17 amino acids (FGGFTGARKSARKLANQ) derived from a larger precursor, Prepronociceptin (abbr. PNOC, PPNOC), which is highly conserved in humans, rats, and mice (Mollereau et al, 1996). Nociceptin has been identified independently as Orphanin FQ.
