Neuralin-1
abbr. nrln1. The mouse gene for this secreted protein has been cloned by Coffinier et al (2001). The human gene is located on chromosome Xq22.1-23. The protein has been identified independently as CHL [chordin-like-1], Ventroptin, and Neurogenesin-1. A databank synonym for the rat sequence is kohjirin.
The protein contains cysteine-rich repeats similar to those found in Chordin that may mediate interactions with bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP).
