[newly identified cDNA from the EDC] This gene, identified originally by Marenholz et al (2001), is one of several genes found in EDC, the epidermal differentiation complex, which comprises a large number of genes that are of crucial importance for the maturation of the human epidermis. The gene is a member of the family of S100 proteins and has been renamed S100A15 (Wolf et al, 2003).
