[Metallospondin]
This collective term was used originally to describe two proteins, METH-1 (ADAMTS1), and METH-2 (ADAMTS8) (Vázquez et al, 1999) to denote the importance of both the metalloprotease domains and the thrombospondin domains in these proteins. It is used now as a collective term for ADAMTS protein family members, which are secreted metalloproteinases (See also: matrix metalloproteinases).
