Marek's disease virus US3 protein |
marenostrin-d2 |
IPP |
||
Name given to a protein produced by the MEFV gene, mutations of which are responsible for familial Mediterranenan fever, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by recurrent attacks of fever with synovial, pleural or peritoneal inflammation (French FMF Consortium, 1997). The name is derived from 'mare nostrum', the Latin name of the Mediterranean Sea.
The protein has been identified later as Pyrin. marenostrin-fl refers to the full-length protein of 781 amino acids, which is expressed uniformly in the cytoplasm. marenostrin-d2 is a protein of 570 amino acids generated by in-frame alternative splicing of exon 2 (Papin et al, 2000), which has a nuclear localization.
