The gene encoding the MYD1 antigen (so named to reflect its expression in myeloid cells and dendritic cells) has been cloned from a cDNA library derived from cattle monocytes (Brooke et al, 1998). Sequence analysis shows that the antigen is a member of the family of signal regulatory proteins (SIRP) and corresponds to SIRP-alpha [signal regulatory protein-alpha].
COS-7 cells transfected with MYD1 cDNA bind CD4 T-cells. A MYD1 antibody significantly reduces the proliferation of resting memory CD4 T-cells to ovalbumin-pulsed monocytes
