[Myeloid-Lymphoid initiating cells] Punzel et al (1999) have developed an in vitro assay that allows the identification of a single type of human bone marrow progenitors closely related to hematopoietic stem cells. Myeloid-Lymphoid initiating cells are capable of generating multiple secondary progenitor cells that can reinitiate long-term myeloid and lymphoid hematopoiesis in vitro. The assay is carried out in contact with the murine AFT024 fetal liver stromal cell line in the presence of flt-3 ligand, SCF, and IL7.
