[LAP and no PDZ] The approved gene symbol is LRRC1 [Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 1].
This protein contains an LRR domain with 16 leucine-rich repeats but no PDZ domain and is present only in vertebrates. It shows strong identities with members of the family of LAP proteins, which are crucial for maintaining the architecture of epithelial cells.
