[leucine-rich repeats] The LRR domain is structural motif of approximately 20-30 amino acids. These sequence motifs are present in many proteins from prokaryotes to eukaryotes. LRRs are a protein-protein interaction motif and as such are utilized in various molecular recognition processes, including signal transduction, cell adhesion, cell development, DNA repair and RNA processing (Kobe and Deisenhofer, 1994, 1995; Kobe and Kajava, 2001).
