Lamstatin corresponds to the NC1 (non-collagenous-1) domain of collagen type 4 (collagen-4-alpha-5) and hence corresponds to Col4A5(1461-1685) [collagen-4-alpha-5(1461-1685)] Weckmann et al (2012) have reported that decreased levels of lamstatin are detected in lungs of lymphangioleiomyomatosis patients (see also: LAM cells). Recombinant lamstatin and CP17 (VCNFASRNDYSYWLSTP), a bioactive fragment of lamstatin corresponding to lamstatin(66-82) inhibit proliferation, migration and cord formation of human microvascular lung lymphatic endothelial cells in vitro. Lamstatin and its derivative are direct inhibitors of lymphangiogenesis
